Zika Patients May Face a Poorer COVID-19 Prognosis
Coinfections involving SARS-CoV-2 and orthoflaviviruses, including Zika virus (ZIKV), have been reported in Mexico. However, the clinical characteristics, disease severity, and prognostic implications of ZIKV and SARS-CoV-2 coinfection remain poorly understood. By reanalyzing the proteomic profile of ZIKV-infected cells, HyVir proposes that ZIKV-induced changes in ISG15 and SEC61B expression may influence COVID-19 pathogenesis and prognosis.

Zika Patients May Face a Poorer COVID-19 Prognosis
Coinfections involving SARS-CoV-2 and orthoflaviviruses, including Zika virus, have been reported. However, the clinical characteristics and potential outcomes of Zika patients coinfected with SARS-CoV-2 remain unknown. In the upcoming hypothesis, I reanalyze proteomics profile of Zika virus (ZIKV)-infected cells and propose two potential players that may implicate to worsening COVID-19 prognosis.
